Dominating the center is a weathered plaster sculpture, echoing the form of a classic wooden bookcase with exposed metal underpinnings visible through its worn surface. On this textured structure, a 16mm black and white film is projected, depicting a half-dressed Portuguese girl in an urban hat, the projection mapping seamlessly across its form. To the right, a minimalist folding screen, inspired by the elegance of Japanese Nanban designs, spans six wooden-framed panels. Its blank paper surfaces are alive with a vibrant video of a biblical figure clad in red, sporting sunglasses against a blue sky—a striking juxtaposition of modernity and tradition. On the left, a small puppet theater crafted from wood and Alentejo textiles houses the "Bonecos de Santo Aleixo," lifelike marionettes seemingly at rest. Though small, each sculpture commands attention in the cavernous room, their introspective lights casting gentle shadows against the antiquated surroundings.
