In the center of the vast, empty room stands "Sculpture one," a slightly damaged plaster sculpture resembling a traditional living room bookcase. Its peeling surface reveals a metal framework beneath, with empty shelves on display. A 16mm film projector casts a black and white video onto the sculpture, depicting a half-naked Portuguese girl wearing an urban hat, seamlessly mapped onto the bookcase's surfaces. To the right, "Sculpture two" features a semi-open folding screen crafted from paper and wood, echoing a 6-part Japanese Nanban screen. A vibrant video projection of a biblical character in red clothing and sunglasses, set against a blue sky, adorns its surface. On the left side, "Sculpture three" is a wooden puppet theater adorned with Alentejo textiles. Inside, the hand-sized "Bonecos de Santo Aleixo" puppets lie sleeping. Although smaller in scale compared to the other sculptures, the puppet theater adds a unique touch to the display. The sculptures' video projections provide the primary illumination in the subdued ambiance of the colossal space.
